Each of the main skeleton parts of the sentence may be elaborated by other words that modify by adding further information. There are a number of ways that the skeleton can be modified.
Adjectives-Modify the subject, the direct or indirect object.
Adverbs-Modify the verb.
Prepositional Phrases-Modify the verb, subject, direct or indirect object.
