Replacement for a noun representing a person, place or thing.

9. Adjectives:
Modify the subject, the direct or indifect object.

10. Adverbs:
Modify the verb.

11. Prepositional Phrases:
Modify the verb, subject, direct or indirect object.
[preposition + (modifier(s)) + object] that modifies a verb, subject or object.

12. Clauses:
Ideas built around a verbal idea that function as part of the main sentence.

13. Participle clause:
"-ing" verbal idea that functions as a noun, adjective, or adverb.

14. Infinitive Clause:
"to____" verbal idea that functions in various ways.

15. Relative Clause:
"who", "which" clause that functions to define a noun.

16. Passive Verbs:
Verb that emphasizes the receiver of the action by making it the subject.

17. "To be" Verbs:
Forms of the Verb "be" that equates the subject with existence, another noun, or a description.

18. Helping Verbs:
Forms of the Verb "be" that combine with another verb to show tense.

19. Complementary Verbs:
Certain Verbs that use an infinitive to complete the one thought.

20. Imperative Verbs:
Verbs that make a command or request.

21. Conjunctions:
Words that connect ideas in various relationships.

22. Dependent Clauses:
Clauses that do not have a complete thought, but complement the main sentence to which it is connected with a subordinating conjunction.

23. Relationship of Propositions:
The way that ideas are related, determined by the conjunctions.
