- Student is to be present, to be on time, and to actively participate in class discussion.

- Student will regularly attend EBC chapel planning sessions.
- Textbook Reading/ Book Report
- The student will read the course textbook in its entirety
- and write a book report containing the following three parts:
- i. Summary- Describe the main thesis of the book and how the author develops/argues this thesis. Give a short summary of each chapter and describe how it contributes to the overall message of the book.
- ii. Personal reaction- Describe your impression of the main thesis of the book and its development. Do you agree? Why or Why not? What stuck out to you positively? What stood out negatively?
- iii. Personal/Ministry Application- Specifically describe how you are applying or plan to apply what you have gained from the textbook reading to your personal life and/or ministry. What are the steps you are taking or plan to take to reach this goal?
- Book Report Due Mon. Feb 15th
- Weekly article reading and discussion
- Students will read and/or listen to weekly assigned articles or audio files.
- Students will take notes and bring them to class prepared to discuss and apply the teaching.
- The notes should include the content/thesis of the teaching, the student’s reaction to the teaching, what the student learned and how it applies to worship arts ministry.
- Research artistic elements
- Student will find, choose and turn in a minimum of 5 artistic works that demonstrate, communicate or embody the theme of ‘hope’.
- These will include at least one musical work, one dramatic work and one visual work.
- Due Mon. Feb. 22nd
- Design and direction of EBC chapel
- Students will work with the ASB to design and direct an entire Wednesday chapel service for EBC.
- Student will follow the standard planning paradigm to design these services
- Student will work within the existing chapel template and with the chosen theme/speaker for the week.
- Student will then design, recruit, coordinate and direct all aspects of the chapel including: intro video, worship team, announcements, special, speaker, and exit worship.
- This will include a 1-2 page write up answering the following questions:
- a. Why did you do what you did?
- b. What went well?
- c. What could have been better?
- d. What did you learn from the experience?
- Due Wed. Mar. 10th
- Design and direction of local church service
- Students will work with the pastoral leadership of a local church to design and direct an entire church service.
- Student will follow the standard planning paradigm to design these services Student will work within the existing church template and with the chosen theme/speaker for the week.
- Student will then design, recruit, coordinate and direct all aspects of the service.
- This will include a 1-2 page write up answering the following questions:
- a. Why did you do what you did?
- b. What went well?
- c. What could have been better?
- d. What did you learn from the experience?
- Due Mon. Mar. 8th
- Term Project
- student will choose one of the following
- a. Service design – Student will design a youth service and an outreach service. Student will follow the standard planning paradigm to design these services. Student will describe in writing all of the elements, including an order of service and detailed cue sheet for each service
- b. Research project – Student will choose a worship arts topic (pending instructor approval), research and write a 500-800 paper in MLA format.
- c. Artistic creation – student will choose a theme (pending instructor approval) and create a work of art that embodies this theme as part of the worship experience..
- Due Friday March 12th
- Final Exam
- Students will complete a 110 minute exam covering all course material.
- A Study guide will be given to help students prepare for the Final Exam
- Wednesday March 17th at 8am.
