- GEN201 Introduction to Biblical Languages : Assignments
- Class attendance –
- Student is to be present, to be on time, and to actively participate in class discussion and activity.

- Optional Silzer Textbook Reading and Quizzes –
Student may complete the extra credit reading from the How Biblical Languages Work textbook.
Student may then complete a quiz on the material on Populi (click the ‘tests’ tab of the GEN201 course page and follow the correct links and instructions).
You may use your textbook for the quizzes, but there is a 15 minute time limit on each quiz.
This assignment is not required, but is made available for your benefit.
- Carson Textbook Reading and Reports –
- Student is to complete the assigned reading before the class period (see the course calendar).
- Student is write a brief report on each of the assigned sections following the guidelines contained in the Course Pack.
- The student may read a third chapter and complete a report on this chapter for extra credit.
- Due Sept. 16th and Sept. 30th.
- Extra Credit chapter is due Dec. 2nd.
Chicago Statement response –
Student is to read the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (contained in the Course Pack) and write a response.
The response should be around 800-1200 words and answer the following questions:
If you were given an opportunity to sign this document, would you? Why or why not? Give detailed reasons and the Biblical support for them.
What difference does your answer to the previous question practically make in your everyday life, Bible study and ministry? What difference should it make? Is there a difference between your theoretical answer and the way the Bible functions in your life and ministry? If so, what is the disconnect and how can/should it be addressed.
Due Nov. 4th, 8am.
- Vocabulary Memorization –
- Student is to memorize a select list of Greek and Hebrew words.
- The Vocabulary lists are found in the Course Pack.
- Students will be tested on vocabulary every week as part of the in class quizzes.
- The vocabulary is cumulative – only the first group of words needs to be memorized for the first quiz, but any word from the first or second group of words is fair game for the second quiz, etc.
- In Class Quizzes –
- Each class session will begin with a brief quiz.
- The quizzes will cover course material covered in class from the previous weeks as well as vocabulary.
- In Class Exercises –
- Each class session will contain an exercise designed to give practice in the language and exegetical skills learned in class.
- Student will complete each assignment as directed in class.
- These will be turned in for credit.
- If these are not completed in the allotted class time, they must be completed by the next class session.
- These exercises can be found in the Course Pack and under Documents/Assignment Documents on the website.

- Exegetical Exercises –
- Student is to complete weekly exercises designed to apply the language and exegetical skills to actual Bible study.

- Final Exam and Term Project –
- There is no final exam or term project for this course.
- Due Feb. 43rd.
